Upright Heliconia – One Dozen

Upright heliconia are our tallest and heaviest flower.  This beautiful stem grows wild in the mountains and parks here in Hawaii.  We cultivate it to create the most balanced and well shaped specimens.  It will add height to any flower arrangement. The stems are thick and a bit woody. A little care must be taken when using heliconia in flower arranging as their size and weight can overwhelm an assortment. The heliconia bloom has a shape like a ‘lobster claw’ as they are sometimes called.  Colors range from red to pink and yellow.
